The Lady Rebels were up first and as the first overall seed, they hosted the 16th seed, which was Georgia Military College. The Lady Rebels struggled on offense early on as the spirited Bulldogs from Milledgeville came ready to play.
However, a hot second quarter gave the Lady Rebels a 34-21 lead. The Bulldogs, who came in with a 14-10 record, battled and gave the Lady Rebels a full game. But the Lady Rebels, with a strong senior class leading the way, pulled away in the fourth quarter to win 65-44.
Mylashia Yancey, who at times took over the game, finished with 25 points. Also scoring in double figures was Brishuana Barnes and Zakiyah Office with 10 points each.
The Hornets absolutely wouldn’t go away and fought until the very end but the Rebels just had too much in the end as they won 69-59. Junior Tamorrion Terry was a man amongst boys as he finished with 37 points and 26 rebounds. This was after missing portions of the first half due to a finger injury. DeAndre Pierce also had a strong game finishing with 12 points.
